About

State services for people of all ages who are legally blind or have low vision. Adults get a social worker who builds an independent living plan and can arrange orientation and mobility (white cane) training, help with daily living skills, and low vision magnifiers. Children get Braille instruction, accessible materials and support at school, and job seekers can get vocational rehabilitation and assistive technology training.

How to Get Help

Call (860) 602-4000 or email ADS.BESB@ct.gov. Adults need an eye doctor to fill out BESB's eye report form documenting their vision loss, so they can be added to the state's blind registry; a BESB social worker then contacts them. BESB's office is at 184 Windsor Avenue in Windsor.
